Artist Residency- Lexden Springs School

I recently had the amazing opportunity to work at a local SEN school. The school were looking to revamp their residential facilities and to make them more welcoming and homely for the pupils. The state-of-the-art building offers specialised facilities for children with severe disabilities, with this in mind the space was quite clinical and the team wanted to make it more child-friendly!

There were two key areas I was asked to focus on:

The bedroom corridor in which we decided on a leaf and woodland theme. The designs had to be ‘low-stim’ and continuous through-out the five bedrooms and corridor.

Then there was the library and therapy wing which we rebranded as ‘The Hive’. This naturally led to a bee themed design which was a bit more playful and busy as opposed to the calming residential wing.
